FAQ

REGISTRATION
I see tickets are non-refundable. What if I purchased the wrong ticket or no longer want to participate?
  • If you purchased the wrong ticket and would like to exchange, please see the questions below.
  • If you no longer wish to participate, the ticket price will go towards our Pay-It -Forward program, Go Beyond Fund, or supporting our Brooklyn non profit organization, Dancewave. The same is applicable for any full refund inquiries regarding your registration fees.
I bought a virtual ticket (audition or basic fair) but I will now be able to come to NYC. Can I change my registration?
  • All In person registration is limited due to capacity. Please be aware that all ticket transfers will incur a processing fee.
    • For In Person Basic Fair, we may be able to change your ticket if space permits. Email dtcb@dancewave.org as soon as possible to see if we have spaces available. Registration closes AUGUST 30th, we will be unable to accommodate requests after this date.

To purchase an In Person Audition ticket and waitlist audition ticket, you cannot have a Virtual Audition ticket. If you meet this requirement you can purchase an In Person Audition, if these are sold out you may purchase an In Person Basic Fair ticket with the In Person Audition Waitlist add on.

I bought an in person ticket (audition or basic fair) but can no longer come to NYC. Can I change my registration?
  • Basic Fair Virtual tickets are unlimited as we can accommodate all attendees through our event platforms, Whova and Zoom. If you’d like to change your registration please email dtcb@dancewave.org. (please see refund question for refund information).
  • Virtual Auditions will have a capacity  but those seeking to exchange ticketing will incur a processing fee. If you’d like to change your registration please email dtcb@dancewave.org as soon as possible to begin the transfer process. Registration closes AUGUST 30th, we will be unable to accommodate requests after this date.
  • The benefit of auditioning with DTCB is your ability to be seen by so many schools at once!

IMPORTANT- the audition is only part of the application process. Most schools require you to directly apply to the college/university to be accepted.

I am on the waitlist for the In Person Auditions, when will I find out if I am accepted?

On August 26th, we will inform you of your waitlist status. You will have exactly one week to provide the correct information and confirm your spot.

I bought a ticket and can no longer attend, can I transfer my ticket to someone else I know?

Unfortunately, due to capacity limitations we are unable to transfer tickets to people outside of our registrations.

If I participate in the DTCB 2024 auditions, will it count towards my application to the program?
  • Unless a school has stated otherwise, your DTCB audition will be considered your audition for that program. Keep in mind some schools require you to apply to both the school and department separately. Make sure you state which school(s) you are interested in at registration to ensure we inform the appropriate schools of your interest (you can select “ALL” if you would like to be considered for every school). You can still audition directly at the school if you would like but most audition panel schools will consider your DTCB audition for their program.

I’m a student interested in studying Dance in higher education but am not a senior. Can I still attend/register?
  • Yes! We encourage underclassmen to attend DTCB as it’s a great way to build relationships with colleges/universities/dance programs before you have to audition. There are so many programs out there and by attending DTCB before your senior year, you’ll gain invaluable insights to prepare you for the application process. You’ll also be able to meet school representatives, ask pertinent questions and learn directly from industry professionals.
  • Your ticket option will be either virtual or in person Basic Fair.
WHOVA
I downloaded the Whova App but I don’t see the event on it?

The DTCB Whova App will go live a month before the first day of the event. Once it is live you will receive an email. After you’ve accessed and updated your account you will be able to go through the college booths and speak to representatives at your leisure. We highly suggest you participate in the community boards and build out your profile for college representatives to view. Until the Whova app goes live, we will be updating dtcb.dancewave.org with pertinent information.

What do I do once the app goes live? How do I use Whova?
  • Once the Whova app is live, this is your time to build out and update your Whova profile! As a student, this is your first impression of the Dance Programs before they meet you at the Virtual College Fair or Networking event. Make sure you showcase yourself appropriately. During this time, you can join community boards and ask your peers, college representatives, and Dancewave staff questions. Remember, the discussion boards are public and can be viewed by all attendees who participate in DTCB.
  • Your ticket option will be Prepare – underclassmen – $75.
I can’t access Whova, what do I do?

Please make sure that your account has a different email to either the parent or student. Sometimes the profile you may be trying to access has a different email attached and therefore is unavailable (Whova also deletes duplicate profiles with the same email). A parent and student profile are only possible when they are registered to separate emails. At registration, please ensure you are inputting separate emails that you check frequently.

COLLEGES INVOLVED
Where can I find a list of participating schools?

Visit dancewave.org/dtcb to find the 2024 participating schools. They will be updating weekly. Schools registered as audition panelists will have an (*).

Will all DTCB Audition Panelist schools make program acceptances or scholarship consideration based on this audition?
  • Each program has different entrance requirements, many of them will consider this audition as acceptance to their program and offer scholarships based on the DTCB audition.
  • Your ticket option will be Prepare – underclassmen – $75.
How will we know the results of the audition? When do schools make their decisions?
  • Schools will contract Auditionee candidates directly about scholarship offers and program acceptances after the 2024 audition has been completed. It is important to see what other requirements, ie. applying for the institution or program, are needed in addition to the audition.

Dancewave is not involved in the decision making process for any school after the event and does not receive notification of students admission offers or scholarships. Dancewave is not responsible for any correspondence between candidates and school after the event closes.
