The BFA Dance Program fosters a collaborative environment of deep inquiry and open-minded intellect, thereby inspiring the next generation of engaged and informed dance makers, performers, and global citizens. We motivate students who have chosen this degree program to commit to a life as thinking contemporary dance artists. Through commitment to their art form, each student contributes to a community of artists that provides mutual enrichment during their time on campus and, post-graduation, extends to the broader professional field. Our program focuses its movement modality training on Contemporary and Jazz dance with supplementary training in Ballet, Tap, and somatic forms. Small class sizes allow for personal attention and the frequent feedback that aspiring artists need to fully develop their artistic potential. The program’s strong connection with the Department’s numerous Theatre programs makes for a vibrant, multi-dimensional educational experience within a supportive creative learning environment.
Students have gone on to join professional dance companies, Broadway, cruise ships, touring shows, directors in dance of charter school programs k-8, and creating their own performance opportunities.
