PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Hofstra’s dance program allows students to pursue one of three degrees: a BA (which allows students to double major), a BFA (a more intense study of technique, choreography and performance) and a BS in Dance Education (preparing students for K-12 certification). The program focuses on modern/contemporary dance with a strong ballet component, supported by a variety of dance genres including African, Irish, tap, jazz, hip hop and others. Hofstra’s proximity to New York City enriches the curriculum and enables the program to attract nationally and internationally known guest artists such as Doug Varone, Earl Mosley, Sean Curran, Liz Gerring, Larry Keigwin, and Claire Porter. Students are encouraged to visit the city often for performances, classes and auditions. Performance opportunities are abundant at Hofstra and students in all three degrees have the same opportunities to audition for pieces and also to present their own choreography on campus and at other venues.

Larry Keigwin – Bessie award winning dancer and choreographer
