What’s the difference between this expansion event and the main New York City event from Oct 3rd – Oct 8th?

The New York City hybrid event (Oct 3rd – Oct 8th) is a week long event consisting of workshops, panels, master classes, the virtual college fair and most notably the hybrid live auditions.

The West Coast expansion is a one day event in New Mexico (Sept 23) consisting of masterclasses and a networking event. It is an opportunity for families who can’t/don’t want to travel to NYC to take part in the transformative DTCB experience. Students will get an introduction to the college search and see the benefits of participating in a college preparatory event like this one.

Does participating in this expansion day qualify as an audition? 

The West Coast Expansion will NOT include an audition and participating in the masterclasses will NOT qualify as an audition. It is an additional opportunity to learn about programs you may have never heard of before and dance with your peers.

What should I bring with me/prepare?

Make sure your Whova profile is up to date and clear before September 23rd. Bring clothes you feel comfortable in and are appropriate for the masterclasses you’d like to participate in (descriptions will be provided in the agenda). Bring water.

If you’d like to change before the networking event, you’re free to do so but bringing a cover up will be enough. 

Of course, bring an open-mind and a willingness to learn!

What is included in the fee?

Access to two out of the five masterclasses and two tickets for the 3 hour networking event (one student & one parent). You will also get a Whova Profile that will be accessible until Oct 3rd and provides an additional opportunity to learn about and connect with colleges.

The New York City hybrid event (Oct 3rd – Oct 8th) is a week long event consisting of workshops, panels, master classes, the virtual college fair and most notably the hybrid live auditions. During that week, dance programs involvement is limited mostly to the Whova platform until the hybrid and in person events begin Oct 6th.

The West Coast expansion event is a one day event for programs who can’t/don’t want to travel to New York City. It’s an opportunity for colleges and universities who have never participated in DTCB to get an introduction to the event and learn about the benefits of participating in a college preparatory event like this one. For colleges who have already participated in DTCB, it’s an additional opportunity to get in front of a new demographic of students.

Our program has already purchased a DTCB package when registration opened. Is there an additional fee to participate in this expansion event?

Yes, there is an additional fee to participate in the DTCB expansion event. Prices depend on the level of involvement you are looking for: masterclass + networking event or simply the networking event. If you’ve already registered, email dtcb@dancewave.org for more information before registering for our expansion event. 

Can our program participate virtually in this event?

No, this event will be fully in-person and will not be offered in a hybrid format. If you’d like to attend DTCB virtually, you can register for the NYC event.
