Teaching Artist: Georgia Usborne

Georgia Usborne was born in Sheffield, England. Upon graduating from Central School of Ballet, she joined Bern Ballet in Switzerland under the direction of Cathy Marston. There, Georgia worked with choreographers including Orjan Andersson, Alexander Ekman, Adonis Foniadakis, Johan Inger, Didy Veldman and Noa Zuk, and completed her MA in Contemporary Dance. Georgia joined Gallim in 2014, and has since created, performed and taught with the company nationally and internationally. She is also the founder and producer of Create:ART, a pop-up performance and residency platform for emerging artists in NYC, supported by the Brooklyn Arts Council.


Brooklyn-based company GALLIM kneads movement into raw emotions, distills it from existential uncertainty and unleashes it onto unexpected paths of connection between artists and audiences. Underpinned by physicality, virtuosity and artistic director, Andrea Miller’s distinct approach to performance, the Company has an expansive language bridging theater, visual arts, music and fashion. Under the direction of founder, and choreographer Miller, GALLIM is recognized for its powerful and transcendent works, movement language and commitment to the creative praxis. Over the past decade, GALLIM has been invited to create and perform throughout the world in dance venues, museums, sites, fashion, film and festivals including The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Temple of Dendur, 3 gallery performative installation for Met Breuer, Frieze Festival collaboration with Marta Minujin , dance film Art Basel, Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, Theatre National de Chaillot in Paris , German Festival Tanz Bremen, Teatre Grec in Barcelona, Teatros Del Canal in Madrid and the Grand Theatre de la Ville de Luxembourg, The Joyce, Jacob’s Pillow, Spoleto USA, Hermès Womens Universe and Philip Johnson Glass House, Calvin Klein, Lacoste and Vogue. GALLIM has obtained recognition from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, The Harkness Foundation for Dance, Princess Grace Foundation-USA, The Shubert Foundation, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and New York State Council on the Arts. It has also received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, Mary Duke Biddle Foundation, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President for its Brooklyn studio community programming.
